Blade Runner, Ridley Scott’s 1982 sci-fi classic has been gathering a lot of buzz since the announcement last year that a sequel to the film was on the works. Ridley Scott has been on board since day one, and now, reports say that even the Harisson Ford, who starred in the original, has joined the early talks regarding Blade Runner 2.
The film, which some consider to be the best science fiction film of all time, is based on Philip K. Dick’s novel “Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?”. The story focuses on Rick Deckard who works as a ‘blade runner’ in an overpopulated future Los Angeles; hunting down a gang of escaped android outlaws known as replicants.
Despite the fact that no confirmation has been made regarding the role Ford will play in the sequel; whether he continues on as the main character or whether he appears as a cameo. The current talk on Ford returning to film the movie, decades after the original, revives the debate which shot off from the original: is Deckard himself a replicant?
Any chance of these questions being answered any time soon seem very unlikely as Scott is currently busy with his long-awaited return to science fiction with Prometheus starring Charlize Theron, Michael Fassbender, Noomi Rapace, Guy Pearce, and Idris Elba and opening in the UK on 1 June.
It may be quite a while till we all get our Ridley Scott sci-fi fix, in the mean time, why not make a quick peek at Gadgetepoint’s to get a load of the coolest gadgets and gift ideas?
